I was told this is 1/6 Mayambula male, but I'm not sure, maybe it's young Scar?

If it's indeed the Maymbula male we can go back a few generations and this guy will still look almost the same as his Skybed great-grandfather.

Clone after clone every single generation.

I always thought Leeubrons were the biggest in the Greater Kruger ( bigger Gomondwane is probably also up there ) but lately Scar is also impressing me quite a bit.

Zigzag has always been considered as one the biggest in Kruger. Is it known which of the Matimbas sired him? If its Nduna then it explains his massive size

@Mdz123 He looks a lot like Slitnose.

But I mean all the 6 were big and genes often works in mysterious ways. The Torchwood male is HB's son and I always thought he might be the smallest Matimba son.

There is literaly no way to know that, maybe he is bigger/same size as Mbiris.

Of course there's no way to proof anything without actual weights, we are mostly just judging with our own eyes, but we have some hints. Torchwood male never impressed me particularly and in the few photos/videos of him with his partners ( sired by Matshapiri ) he seemed around their size, and Matshapiri were much smaller than Matimbas which we know by comparing them to females they interacted ( both interacted with Manghenis and competed over the same females ) and the fact they clashed and rangers commented their size, one of the Mala Mala rangers debating the clash said Matimbas were clearly bigger ( and the other 2 agreed ) and in one of Mala Mala's reports they stated that Matshipiris didn't top any scales while in the same report said Matimbas had enormous size.

Mbiris however look much more impressive to me, plus everybody seems to think Mbiris are big, they had many ranger/guides/photographers/lodges saying they are big/huge, there's even a WildEarth ranger* saying Scar is one of the largest male lion he has ever seen and that even when he walks side by side with Shaka ( who he adds is also huge ) he looks like a bear. Then the ranger adds later that Mbiris are the sons of the Matimbas who were incredibly large males and we could therefore see where the genes came from.

*If you wanna watch /\ 0:34 talks about ZZ's size, 5:36 talks about their fathers' size.

But to my knowledge there's no similar description of the Torchwood male, though to be fair he seems to live in an area with low coverage.

As I said before genes works in mysterious ways, take for example the current 6 BDM, bulkiness aside the larger of the southern BDM was around the same size of the Kambula female despite his mother being the literal sister of the BDM who was possibly the largest lion ever seen in the last decade or so, 3rd largest lion skull ever, darted by Timbavati and said to be the biggest they've darted despite claiming to weight Ximpoko at 283kg with a full stomach... he looked like a freaking monster, crazily tall and long, but his nephews? They look average.

A similar example are the Bboys, they come from the Matimba's sisters, Old Skybed's grandsons, but time after time many different rangers said Matimbas were much bigger than them and some of the young Skybeds also looked like monsters, while Bboys had some small lions like Nsuku and Scrapper ( dwarfed by the Selati male they attacked ) and big ones like Nhenha ( though even then I recall at least 2 rangers saying none of them were big ), but despite being 5 none of them seemed to be as huge as any of the Matimbas, the Old Skybeds or some of the Young Skybeds.

Another example, Sassy was a small lioness, certainly below average to a point when she was thin from stress and fights ( but still healthy ) in her last weeks/months she barely looked bigger than the Othawa 1yo subs, not only that but lodges said that their aunts ( despite being extremely old ) were larger than her. Howerver her littermate wasn't small like her, I think he was pretty big and I doubt anyone would say he wasn't at least average, while Sassy looked way below average, just like her ( yet another example ) daughter Gingerella who gets dwarfed by Ximhungwe, she even has a very small head, and that despite having a huge Matimba as a father.

Graeme Mitchley recently wrote somewhere that Torchwood male is one of the most impressive males in Kruger at the moment. In general I do not think any of the Matimba sons was small or even avarage. Even the sickly De Laporte Talamati seemed to be quite tall guy.

Because their fathers Matshapiris where not as big doesnt mean that their sons will not be, Matshapiris have one of the best genes out their, both their Fourways sons are one of the most impressive and prob on larger end of Kruger lions size wise, they dwarf every lioness they meet, and are bigger then Torchwood Matimba from what i saw.

Father size =/= sons size , Mohawk Avoca literally got outgrown by his 3.5 yrs old sons.

3 Birmingham boys (white lion group) are also bigger then their fathers Ross males.

And many more examples like this.

Who is Graeme Mitchley? Regardless interesting that they - assuming saw the lions in person - thought he was one of the biggest in the KNP.

Still it's not like I said I think he is small or even average, just that he may be the smallest of their sons, at least it was the impression I got.

I can't find the source ( there's nothing on Tintswalo IG page ), but here screenshots from a vid a friend sent me, apparently Mbiris are following Tintswalo males again:

He’s a prominent photographer based in Kruger.   Has been there for ages.
