All, with my deepest regret I must inform everyone that I have made a terrible mistake, and deleted the Talamati thread. I am waiting to hear back from our Webmaster, on if it can be restored or not. I will inform everyone, in this thread the answers he provides.

I know full well, the work that so many of you put into making that thread one of our most active and informative thread. I can only hope that you all may forgive me for my blunder. If it can be restored, then all will be right with the world again. If it cannot, we will look to begin a new thread.

Please do not let this discourage any of you from sharing your wealth of knowledge with the rest of us, after all it is all of you that make the site so great to begin with. Any disappointment or frustration you have as a result of this should be directed at me, and me alone.

Thank you for understanding!

Idk if this is possible or if it's too much to ask, but given that this happened, if it turns out to be impossible to restore the thread, wouldn't it be possible to remove the option to delete threads from the mods? Or at least make so only one or 2 profiles ( of the owners for example ) have this "ability"?

Because it's a huge risk to have so many profiles that could do that, since such accidents might happen.

Imagine if the Sabi Sands thread gets deleted? Or the Kruger one, Mapogo, Majingilane, etc, it'd remove the bulky of history of these lions from the entire internet and we'd probably never be able to assemble all the data again, or have all the "historical" discussions and debates that happened throughout the years.

Wildfact currently, to my knowleadge, is the only place online where you can find all the history of these lions and all the ranger reports, every special lion behavior ever witnessed in decades since following lion dynamics became a thing.

Believe me, @Mapokser , nobody is more upset over what happened than I am, and again, I am as sorry as a person can be. Taking away that ability would not be the answer, for several reasons. Firstly we use that option several times a week, we have spammers that 99% of you never see, because the Mods have deleted the threads they created and banned them, so we need to use it for those purposes. We get new users who create new threads that already exist, and need to be merged (all part of the same functions). Not to mention, removing that ability from the Mods would then put all of that work onto a single person, @sanjay , and that would most certainly not be right by him.

Running this site takes a lot of time and effort from the Mod Team, and I personally believe we do a pretty good job. For me, personally, I spend several hours a day, 7 days a week most weeks. Mistakes happen, and I am sorry for mine, we acknowledge, take ownership of them, learn from them, and we keep striving to do better. That is about all I can say, my friend.

As for the restoration of the thread, it saddens me to say, as I just found out, as a result of the recent software upgrade, that functionality is no longer possible. Again, I am very sorry to everyone who put their time and efforts into making that thread such a great one, and I will work with the other mods on the best way to create a new one.

Giving this responsibility to only couples of profiles, will make it harder  to run spam free site. Believe me, thousands of profiles have been created just to spam on wildfact (and this is normal to any forum site) since its birth. Many eyes with capabilities helps us to keep the site spam free as much as possible.

But your point is correct, we have valuable information and we need to address this issue. I will work on bringing the restore capabilities back.

I couldn’t agree more with your words @BA0701  if such ability gets removed from the mods option, then, it could implicate all of that work onto a single person. Without mention that we use it on a daily basis to delete spammers and threads created by them that already exist  as you've mentioned. These mistakes happen to everyone. Thankfully, the Talamati pride is a well-known pride and such information can be posted overtime.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to let you all know, I have started doing some research, for a starting thread for the new Talamati/Msutlu thread. It may take a few days to piece together, but I am actively working on it.

@Mapokser , valid concern. You won’t notice this happening going forward, thanks to Sanjay’s backend work.
