I wouldn't say "fully contradicts". It says they "didn't seem to have injuries", but of course at night and with the males moving extensively, those minor wounds may have been difficult to spot. But these are just scratches anyway.

I would however like to see the state of the Matimbas, maybe Londolozi will post some pics in the next few days.
