Meet "Osindile" (the survivor) - 4th April at Ngala Private Game Reserve entrance road
Osindile was born late in 2016 and will soon be turning 5. I got to know this gorgeous boy during lockdown last year shortly after the pride males, known as the Ross males, attempted to oust him from the renowned Birmingham pride of lions and in the tussle broke his rear left leg which literally had me in tears! I watched religiously every afternoon to witness the adversity of lions and gradually he managed to keep up with the pride, and stay out of trouble with the 2 male lions, barring a few more ruff and tumble occurrences. Male lions of this age have normally been ousted around 3 years of age. Osindile was again chased away, if I have it correctly two days prior to our magical, but brief sighting, and was softly contact calling when we saw him. He got up, called and strolled down the road and according to the livestream from Ngala, was again reunited with the rest of his pride, Ross males being elsewhere with 2 of the lionesses who have just had cubs
