There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

My father told me the Middle East is a lot more than sand, oil and all the rest of it a long time ago. Apart from that, I know people born and bred in the Middle East. They told me about the hidden treasures in that part of the world.

The photographs remind me about the (arteficial) lake I often visit to canoe in the southeastern part of Amsterdam (Gaasperplas). We don't have flamingos, but the vegetation seems to be quite similar. The last picture could have been taken from that lake.

This one? No, that's definitely the area of "Al Qurm" (The Mangrove) in Abu Dhabi, if you look at the skyscrapers in the background. Quite naturally, people are attracted to this unusual, green area that offers a world away from the hustle and bustle of a city like that of Abu Dhabi:
