There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

The leopard is a great hunter, but he is not looking for a fight. If a leopard can can sneak up on an unsuspecting hyena, he might get a quick kill and have lunch. I suspect most leopards however would rather avoid a potentially life threatening fight. If the leopard is pretty sure he has the drop on the hyena, I think it is a different story. The leopard quite frankly just has more to lose. Like Pantherinae said, one good bite on the paw by a hyena could ultimately end in death for the leopard. The dynamics of leopard and hyena interaction are most likely similar to that of amur tiger and brown bear.
