It seems like I don't have even elementary knowledge about it.
According to me for female lion it shud be atleast 3 yrs old to survive on her own ( independent).
For males it shud be 3-3.5 yrs old.
Any lion can hunt for himself at around 2.5 yrs of age, regardless if its male or female, some will be more successfull, some will struggle at first, depending of their experience. Those young lions usually not succed because they get killed by other lions, not because of lack of food.
Othawa subs where around 2 and Junior 2.5 yrs of age when they become indepented in late 2020, they where gruop of 4 (2 males and 1 female + 1 older male) and they didn't have any problem to hunt for themselves.
2 Plains Camp and 2 Sand River males in early 2020, when they where roaming thru southern Sabi Sands where also around 2.5 yrs of age.
Tsalala young female was 2 yrs and 8 month old when her mother was killed, and she doesnt have any problem hunting alone.
