Same males (as young adults) below I think, what i noticed was their bushy tail which is very rare for an African lion, while its common for Asiatic ones.

Yes indeed, I've seen this on certain males in the Okavango area too. These physical traits appear on lions throughout Africa from time to time, including loose skin folds on the stomach.
