This morning we spotted this beauty while out on a safari As we arrived at the sighting of this majestic beast, he almost immediately went into full stalking mode as he saw some Impala's on the other side of our vehicle... As the Adrenalin starts to pump through everyone's blood the Leopard started moving slowly closer until it was right next to Kenneth's(my fellow guide) Open Safari Vehicle. After minute or so the leopard was Literally underneath Kenneth's Vehicle with only a tail sticking out from underneath, and then as the Impala's moved out of our sight the Leopard quickly moved closer but in the end was spotted by his prey and he failed to make his kill. A Sighting doesn't get better that this. "Chavaluthu - "afraid of nothing" - has been spotted after a short absence following a notable injury inflicted on his back leg. This legendary blue-eyed leopard was seen sporting a nasty wound a couple of weeks ago, but now seems to be on the mend. As usual, this fantastic leopard gave us a relaxed, close-up encounter and we couldn't be happier!" "Chavaluthu's wound still looks severe even after a couple of weeks, but he is definitely getting stronger and is walking without a limp. "We've shared intel about the lion pride dynamics of the Balule, but what about our much revered leopard species?Well, we've been enjoying regular sightings of our favourite boy, Chavaluthu. He still seems to have that open wound on his leg, but this hasn't deterred his wild ways. If you recall, the Van Wijk's leopardess was spotted in his company the other day. Yesterday, Chavaluthu was seen mating with a leopardess. Unfortunately, the mating session happened deep in the thickets but Jochen did manage to grab a few photos of the blue-eyed boy shortly beforehand." "There he goes - right behind the game viewer. What an amazing close-up of this leopard. Chavaluthu was found this morning, slowly walking east to west. He seemed to be looking for something, but there was no prey nearby. He seemed to be on a mission, yet he also flopped down sometimes. They don't have a pride on which to rely and don't know when they'll eat again. Rangers spotted Chavaluthu slowly moving through his territory. Male leopards cover a wide range and their territories may overlap with that of a few females. She was very skittish so rangers couldn't identify her. She ran away quite quickly and Chavaluthu gave chase. Finally he flopped down under thick bush and she came back to him.
