Incredible map as always, though I think it'd have been better to wait a week or two since it seems BDM are getting ousted by Kambulas.

I think there are actually 5 lionesses in the Sand River Pride....unless you're counting one of them as a younger sub?  There are the 2 Manthemahle daughters, the remaining Toulon daughter, plus 2 older S. Avoca daughters.  One of the Avoca daughters is almost 4, while the other is just over 3.  They both should be safe from the Nkhulus, hopefully.

One of the guides stated that he sighted 3 males/3 females in the breakaway group, but he could just as easily have made a mistake in ID'ing one of the males as females....since many are now saying that there are 4 males/2 females in the group.

There's 2 according to the Mala Mala Reports.... however they are not updating the pride numbers for some reason.  I guess the lodges are not communicating much with each other about deaths/lion pride numbers, etc.

There are 2 older females...unless one of them disappeared or died, which none of us was updated on, at least not on the public pages or lodge websites.

They are not updated.

Composition of Sand River pride in 2020, before new cubs of S.Avocas where born (in mid to late 2020) was :

- 2 old females (Toulons)
- 2 young females (Mantimahles)
- 1 sub/cub female (S.Avocas)

Then cubs where born from mid/late 2020 and 2021 in various litters.

1 adult female was killed recently (not sure which, some say it was 1/2 Toulons)

Meaning there is still 4 adult females alive, if we count 2019 female as adult now.

From those new offspring, mid/late 2020 onwards, not sure how many females.

Recently SR sub group was seen on several occasions of 2 females and 4 males, but might be more of them, idk.

Hard to follow this pride.

Panthera maps from WildEarth. Steve said these are from the final quarterly update of 2023, so a few months old at this point. Still interesting to see the movements of the different prides and coalitions.

You didn't do the PC Males properly.  They are like Bugs Bunny in that classic baseball episode.  You should have put them on the map in every single section....
