"A beautiful flashback to when the two Charleston males were just sub adult males back in 2013. Born in 2011 this duo quickly became famous for their survival skills. When their pride was killed in 2012 by the Selati pride the only surviving member, lovely referred to as Aunty Charleston, took the two youngsters under her wings and accomplished the impossible by raising them to independence. Having grown into really big and beautiful male lions they took over the Southern pride and later went into Kruger to conquer another pride. Sadly in May 2019 one of them had to be put down due to an acute lameness in the hind quarters caused by either a subluxation of a thoracic vertebrae or a disc prolapse. The remaining Charleston male managed to maintain his dominant status over his pride till today that currently has a handful of sub adults. They’re often seen along the S65.

Absolutely amazing to once again see these beautiful Charleston males this morning taking a casual stroll and scent marking along the S1 towards the Phabeni gate.

So, that is what is believed happened to Mazino's back, a possible ruptured disk. A ruptured disk is incredibly painful and debilitating, and without medical assistance via surgery it would not have gotten better.

Big boy is a true beast of male lion. I wonder how many prides he is ruling over now as his brother has died. Look like  that is moving for a long and far distances

Is the Southern Pride lone female a daughter of the Charleston Males or the coalition before they took over the Southern Pride?

One of the cubs looks male but not sure about the other.  The sighting was brief though, so it's not a confirmation.

Fourways takeover SP around mid 2015,so she was born around late 2015/early 2016,but Charlestons already in early 2016 started to takeover SP from Fourways.. They didnt kill Fourways cubs, or those cubs where not born yet when they came, idk exactly how it went..
