Its unknown which pride Charlestons takeover in Kruger, but based on territory, its very likely they takeover Nwaswitshaka pride and chased Nwaswitshaka males from the pride.

Nwaswitshaka breakeaway was form in mid 2017 and was made of 4 subadult males, 1 subadult female and 1 adult female, prob their mother..

Photo of Nwaswitshaka breakeaway in late 2017 in Lion Sands as prob 2 yrs old males:

So its very likely that their mother saved them from Charlestons..

Not sure many people always stated they had a couple of prides but never heard names and I have not seen anyone identify the female lioness over the years to see if they are from different prides. And there’s also what Tr1x24 just said many people think that. but not sure if the pride he is with now is that pride

How old is his son? Very impressive looking and almost the same size as big boy already from that picture.

No way that's a 3-year-old lion, if he is, those are the best genes in all of KNP.

Charlestons left in Kruger in 2017..

Othawa male looked even more impressive as 3 yrs old, aswell as both Charlestons, 2 Plains Camp males are beasts at this age.. Not all lions are the same developed at certain age..

Since the recent postings of Big Boy, this also just showed up in my YT feed, completely out of the blue. I am not sure I have even searched for anything regarding him, or any of the other subjects in the video in quite awhile. This particular video is comprised of two separate incidents, both involving the Sand River Male "Bent Spine" At the 5:44 mark (I will attempt to timestamp it, but that doesn't always work for some reason, recently), a young Big Boy Charleston gets in to a rather serious fight with Bent Spine, over a giraffe carcass.

The first fight with Bent Spine on this video, is of him being mauled pretty good by 3 Maginilane, and is also worth the watch.

**EDIT** It did not take the time stamp, the fight with Big Boy takes place at 5:44

I agree with you,However,we're talking about other stage of completely different lions, the Othawa male never had a very hard nomadic life or a hard life in terms as other young males suffers in KNP... that's is why he actually he's looking fantastic while the four Majingilane were alive nobody was able to pressure him out of the Othawa pride

Big Boy was actually very big compared to the Sand River male who was much older than him.

Also I remember heard that the Charleston were much larger than the Gowrie males (2017 or so).

More than best genes among the KNP,is a bit of lucky, not all young males are able to survive the first year of live in the African Bush.

I think experience won the day in the particular instance. There is a moment where Big Boy throws him down using only one leg, and made it look very easy. The Sand River Bent Spine male was incredibly tough, though, in both battles shown in this video. Big Boy became force to be reckoned with.
