The look out coalition: I've asked a photographer who has followed this coalition of two males for Over a year about some more information about them than I already know.

but I share what I know till now: there are two males one is called "look out male" the other one is referred to as naughty boy. They rule the Purunget pride with Naughty boy as the dominant of the two.
He is described by the photographer as the one who eats first, and incredibly aggressive he and his brother chased a black rhino in to the forrest and while the look out male stopped the chase, naughty boy chased the rhino through the Forrest, just to start harassing a cheetah mother with Cubs.

While the Notch boys are described as the the biggest lions in the Mara especially Ceasar. This is a male that is close to challenge the in size. His name is Lipstick from the 4km coalition

Heres the story of him harassing the Black Rhino

"Robyn Gianni Brian Everitt he spent the morning with his brother chasing a black rhino into the forest. For some reason he thinks he is a match. His brother is even more naughty..they chased the rhino into the forest only to come out the other side and begin to harass a mother cheetah with her cubs. You just don't know where to look with these two naughty boys."

It's fun to here these stories, great naration makes you appreciate them and learn individual traits.

A new face for us and quite the bully ..this character from across the river spent the morning terrorizing four lionesses with his accomplice. I found him again in the evening and they were all sleeping soundly together. Including the accomplice! All is fair in love and war — in Kenya.

Great photo Robyn. What area was this in or around where this took place. Thank youLike · Reply · 4 · October 15, 2014 at 4:36am Robyn Gianni Hi Brian Everitt.. we are quite sure this is the Lookout male from the other side. I saw him near the crossing point between Kiboko and the bridge. He just arrived on the scene with a friend. He is one smart looking lion but he is in the territory of the Bridge pride so he needs to be keen.

A video of Lipstick I might have overestimated his size compared to the Notches he does even look smaller than Ron. Not that Ron is small in anyway, but still a great looking male with a beautiful big dark mane

Robyn Gianni Hi Jodie. This is the border male. We have always called him that because he is always at the border in a remote area of the Mara Conservancy. And he is always alone. I encounter him often when I am driving alone.

Lipstick male is a nice male but I definitely wouldn't put him in the Ceasar category. But like you said, when migration is in full effect and their bellies are full, they look much larger. Plus a close up picture like that is going to make them seem more massive, always good to get video or lots of pictures to compare.
I think he is beautiful either way.

@Pantherinae
That page is great, I'm always looking for great photos from naturalists. She is a great source as her husband is actually a wildlife marshal or something like that.

Yeah I was told by a guy earlier this week that lipstick was just as big as the Notch boys, but he was what you call a lipstick "fanatic" and he must have over exaggerated his size, Ron who is the smallest of the notches does definitely look bigger,I can post a video of him mating later in the Notch thread.
and yes as you say he is pure beauty.

I agree @Pckts such wonderful pictures you can never get enough of! And stories about lions that you rarely hear about is worth as much as gold to me.

I will add some more information about lipstick and the 4 km coalition he is in tomorrow if I have the time. :-) but here is a video of him showing his power and dominance

Those young males went after him first, I wonder their relation. Must be from a different pride. Great video though
