Othawa subadults seen together this evening, drinking water. Apparently, they got separated from Sassy for 3 or 4 days now. Praying that they will reunite with her very soon.

Glad to see the subs are alright. I think this whole split up is a good learning moment for them. With only Sassy to rely on it probably wont be the last time they will be left alone for a while.

I've coped a lot already but the truth is that the Othawas are getting attacked every week for a while now, which makes sense considering they're surrounded by two coalitions.

It's impossible to survive for more 1,5-2 years in this circumstances ( so the cubs can reach sexual maturity and luckily mate with the PCM or whichever is the coalition at the time, instead of getting killed by them ), and considering how the Othawa Male's cub is gone, Sassy and her daughter ( not even living in the same pride ) will be the last Othawas remaining in this world, this, of course, if Sassy doesn't meet the same fate of her aunts in the apparent inevitable doom of her pride.

The only chance they'd have to survive is that if at least one of the Bboys and one of the PCM suddenly dies in the next few days/weeks, a buffalo, a fight, idk, but that'd be their only chance and let's be real, such an insane struck of good luck is borderline impossible to happen especially with all 4 males being healthy, strong, and actively looking for more Othawas to kill.

Skorro Jr did way better than one could expect from him, luck wasn't his friend, he lost his two brothers and unfortunately this is it for the beautiful and once big Othawa Pride.

I dont know. The Birminghams seem to be lacking the confidence to even challenge Skorro to get the Ximhungwe pride back. Chances are good that they will vacate the area again once the PCmales push them.
Once that happens, its just a matter of staying west as the PC males prefer the east.

Once Sassy is back to oestrus in a few months, the subs will have much better chances to reach adults.

That'd be great, but for these 2 coalitions to meet they have to go through Othawa's territory, no? Meaning high chances of killing the cubs while they are at it.

This will take at least 6 months, likely more. The pride lost 2 adults and 2 cubs in a few weeks, 6+ months is a lot, I doubt they have anywhere near as much time considering the current situation.

Also, everybody was surprised when the Gijima males didn't kill the two 2yo subs from the Southern lioness and thought it was a lack of experience, so I hardly doubt the males who killed 2 adult Othawas or the very aggressive PCM who killed the Tsalala lioness who herself had a sub, would spare 2yo sub-adults just because their mother is ready to mate.

I think Sassy has abandoned all sense of territory by now. Its the Ximhungwes land now. So that she has to thread lightly is a given.
But even then, except for Skorro, everyone seems to be staying more to the east so she has a area in the west of relative safety. (Though whether or not it contains enough food is another).

With most of the prides cubs death and the survivors showing they can manage on their own for a while. She also should have it more easier.

So happy. Well done to the subs and Sassy! She is such a great girl.

Also, congrats to Gingerella for reaching 4 years old this Month. Not easy by any means!

It's really great that Sassy could finally get up and find the cubs, but these videos look like older footage.  How does Sassy look today?
