                          2 Male Onças Pintadas ( jaguar in portugues  Lol )

  2 very shy and elusive Pantanal Onça that are quite hard for the onçafari team to spot at Refúgio Ecológico Caiman. Both males only ''allow'' themselves to be seen when they are with females.

               Pirata (pirate) male 106.3 kilos https://oncafari.org/animal/pirata/

his name means pirate in portugues. he's got that name cause he spent a long time with his left eye bruised.

@Dark Jaguar

These Atlantic forest jaguars are fascinating. Do you have any recommendations on how to find more pictures of them?

He's a Tall Jaguar with a shorter Total Body Length

For instance, he's 4cm  (1.5'') Taller at the shoulder than the Joker Male but he's 26cm (10.2'') shorter in total length.
We'd have to know tail length to determine Body length.

I really hope they got Guacurarí's tail measurement cause he is no longer among us, learn more about him, estimated travel .....
https://wwf-ap.org/tracker/jaguar/puerto-iguazu/guacurari/

about Joker yeah the only thing missing is his weight. I just checked this week the jaguar specialist Leandro Silveira had recently caught a spotted wild cerrado male jaguar (and a female as well both were in the surroundings of his sanctuary of INSTITUTO ONÇA-PINTADA after the Wild Puma Concolor slaughtered twice some of his cattles/calves and goats ) I wish he revealed some of their details in sizes of both Cerrado jaguars and Pumas in those short videos talking in portuguese they post when they get the wild animals haha. ( the wild puma that is attacking the animals of jaguar conservation fund hasn't been caught yet for the collaring and monitoring. stay tuned on his page Leandro Silveira

there's also a very big melanistic wild male cerrado jaguar that is unknown to Leandro that is appearing there every once in a while at night.

You should check this too @Lycaon. but this is in the Cerrado Biome. I am sure you'll like it too Happy

Leandro and his project IOP ( Instituto Onça-Pintada) will also receive an Amazon male jaguar in his sanctuary shipped from Amazon that suffered bad treatments along with other animals in captivity in Amazon. I saw it on TV.

Joker pantanal male.

         Check out his lecture, very interesting about Jaguar in Brazil and how it all works.( WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES )

 THE JAGUAR: Challenges and strategies to save Brazilian’s symbol of biodiversity, with Leandro Silveira (biologist, president of the Onça-Pintada Institute, Brazil)

Must watch.

English Subs.

I already watched this video many many times.

I really hope you guys watch it

NOTE: in the subs when referring to jaguars it appears ''spotted jaguars'' but its referring to ALL of them. its because jaguar in portuguese is Onça-Pintada (painted onça) that's why it always appears ''spotted jaguar'' hahaha. but the rest of subs is PERFECT.

https://www.oeco.org.br/blogs/rastro-de-onca/28490-o-dia-em-que-o-radio-colar-do-soneca-calou/

  All 4 Young Subadult Onças-Pintadas captured in 2014 in a monitoring work of this jaguar population in the region of Porto Jofre north Pantanal that is part of a study funded by Panthera.

The first two youngsters (no photos were shared from them). Young male 83 kilos and a young small female 53 kilos. '' This young female of 53kg was caught in an armed loop on a calf's carcass and her capture generated a little concern, as she was still accompanied by her mother, who was around us at a distance, while we did the routine procedures on her.''

     The others are the largest two young males they captured.

Xavante cerrado male 110 kilos.

I know Xavante is captive now he was captured as orphan cub along with his sisters, they were introduced back into the wild Xavante even hunted a Tapir and peccarie but unlike his 2 sisters Xavante had to be returned to captivity, Jaguar Conservation Fund feared to happen with him the same it happened to his mom, he was approaching too much and too often the farmers and ranch areas.

anyways there it is confirmed by Leandro in a TV program in 2014. 110 kg cerrado male just to show the size potential of a Cerrado male jag once again.

They show Xavante at 7:43 giving a ''heavy hug'' on Leandro.

Garoa female 83 kilos  https://oncafari.org/animal/garoa/

Garoa the female with a very sad end in Southern Pantanal.

*This image is copyright of its original author

Garoa ( short Rain in portuguese ) was the first cub to be born in the Project Onçafari. Her name was given because she was the daughter of Chuva ( Rain in portuguese ). Back then Chuva Her mother was seen with the dominant male in the region Fantasma, and we suspect that he is the father of Garoa. The many sightings of Garoa with the Project's team from early in her life have contributed to the tolerance and relaxation that this female had demonstrated in the presence of our vehicles. She had been sighted climbing and resting on a tree, playing with her friend Natureza ( another cub born during Project Onçafari ) and also with a very shy male.   - Adam Bannister

*This image is copyright of its original author

Although she showed signs of several pregnancies, she never succeeded in motherhood. In October 2016, the team found her body already lifeless, showing many signs of a fight with other Jaguars such as scratches all over her body and very deep bite marks on her trachea, a blow that possibly resulted in her premature death. Very sad.

Young Garoa

Esperança female 81,8 kilos  https://oncafari.org/animal/esperanca/#group_8349-1

*This image is copyright of its original author

Considered the great mother of the Onçafari, Esperança ( Hope in portugues ) was one of the first onça pintadas to be habituated here and she has given birth to many cubs. All of her cubs were easily habituated as her mother always showed calmness in front of the Onçafari team vehicles. Despite not having one of the superior canines which is an extremely important tooth at the time of hunting Esperança shows a lot of skills on killing her preys.

@TheNormalGuy
I noticed your discussing Jag size with @chui_
 His knowledge of jaguar weights came from a single book and even his claims from that book were off but not until I purchased the book was I able to prove it, which is a downfall posting scans only because much data is missing and people jump to conclusions.
It also led me to post inaccurate info as well but was corrected starting on post #46 I believe.
Just look at his latest response, asked by @Luipaard if 110kg would be a standard average, he uses one Jaguar "Brutus" who's weight was 115kg then estimated to be 130kg * By the same Program mind you* as some sort of evidence of what exactly?
You can use Almeida's own words, Almeida specifically states that jaguars put on quite a bit of mass well past the age of 4

*This image is copyright of its original author

We have numerous weights here and the ones listed when averaged with Almeida's have shown an average weight of around 110kg.
But these averages are meaningless, a Big Male Jaguar in the Pantanal is going to be 130kg+ even larger in the North I believe.
A smaller male is going to be 100kg and a good sized male will be in the 110kg+ mark.
The idea of coming to an average for these cats really serves no purpose IMO other than the idea of trying to set up a "V.S." debate.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

@Nyers
The 158kg weight is undetermined but I'd hold off on using it as fact although Paulo does say that is what he was told. But Fernando Tortatto told me Adriano was 130kg and Paulo told me there are a few in the North that are much larger than Adriano so I'd guess his weight isn't 158kg.
The Largest weight proven is the 142kg Jaguar that was pretty much empty.
