I was in Kruger in late november last year (2020). I visited satara for a few nights. 1 afternoon we drove along the H7 towards Orpen rest camp. 5+- kilometres in, we came across 4 male lions on a buffalo carcass. 1 of which was a white lion. I assumed these were the shishangaan males containing the white lion, casper. However when I look at the above map, it states that there are only 3 males in shishangaan. Please let me know if these males werent part of the shishangaan or if they were and there was just a typo. Thanks a lot! Reply

Those males you have seen are indeed 4 Shishangaan males. They are on this map under the name "4 Shish y(oung) males". The ones you see on the map under the name "3 Shishangaan males" (now down to 2) are fathers of young Shish male you have seen. Reply

I'm wondering if there is a more current version because a lot of the lion Dynamics have changed. Reply

Hey Tr1x24. Not sure if this is where I reply, but...  I just started learning about this insanely impressive dynamic life of Lions. Saw a youtube vid about the Mapogo's coalition and am now hooked. I had no idea of how brutal, courageous, admirable, quick and shortlived lives they have. My question to you is. On this map, which I see is a bit old now, you show a lion you call Kinky Tail Y.Male. The Kinky Tail Offspring? Reply

Its not, he has broken tail, so he is known as Kinky Tail, not related to Mapogo KT. Reply
