The other day I found a picture of one of the Fourways males, but I don't know the date it was taken. I asked, but it wasn't answered. I still haven't heard any report of them, so my guess is they will try to be dominant elsewhere.

yes, but not the way they will attack completely strange lions, they will push them away for the fear that they will start mating with their lionesses.

The case with Notch was very interesting and and joined up two sets of males that probably wouldn't in "normal" cases. Notch was a deposed male of his territory and his sons were subaduts without experience and without a territory. So for them, it made sense to join up. Notch would get the help he needed to have a slight chance of getting a new territory and in turn his sons would get this experienced male that would lead them. In the case of the Majingilane and their sons, it is different. The four of them are still alive and strong and they don't tolerate any other males, it matters little they're their sons, in fact they have already chased them several times. Now, think in some time maybe some of the Majingilane are dead and there's one remaining for whatever reason, be it he was chased away or he survived and still is dominant, then there would be a chance of him joining up with some young male/s. Bu a lot has to happen first for something like this to happen. |
