This young Lion is developing into a fine specimen. His future however is not looking so promising, he has no brothers to break away from his natal pride with, and will soon have to head off alone.

The other day I found a picture of one of the Fourways males, but I don't know the date it was taken. I asked, but it wasn't answered. I still haven't heard any report of them, so my guess is they will try to be dominant elsewhere.

The Styx boys are alive & well. They killed a buff this morning at Kirkman's. Thanks Jarryd for the update & photos.

These are the first pics of them since months that I'm aware after they left the Sabi sands, so it's great to see them again.

this is an old video showing Southern Pride fleeing the lion warfare back in the 2012,
what coalitions were engaged in warfare back then for the control of this pride?

If you go to the video in youtube, it says:
The Southern pride moving away from the Kruger males while on safari game drive at Sabi Sabi
Years ago, the two Kruger males took over that territory from the three Toulon males.

Amanda Brown:
An incredible experience this week, a face-off between a black rhino and two male lions - watch this (7 minute) video to see who comes off best! Thank you so much to Kenneth and Eddy for all the experiences you gave us during our game drives with you. All great, but probably this very unusual encounter gave us the biggest adrenalin rush...
These are the two Styx males, sons of the Majingilane males. It's a video, click on it.

why can't the Styx coalition join with the magingalines since they are their sons

In Masai Mara notch joined with his sons to form a successful coalition

Can they not do the same?

King Noch was alone, the Majingilane are 4 of them, there will be problems with mating rights,
it could be though as they get older

Sorry I am new to this
If the Styx males pass through magingalines territory would they be attacked?

yes, but not the way they will attack completely strange lions, they will push them away for the fear that they will start mating with their lionesses.

That's a good question. The case with Notch was very interesting and and joined up two sets of males that probably wouldn't in "normal" cases.

Notch was a deposed male of his territory and his sons were subaduts without experience and without a territory. So for them, it made sense to join up. Notch would get the help he needed to have a slight chance of getting a new territory and in turn his sons would get this experienced male that would lead them.

In the case of the Majingilane and their sons, it is different. The four of them are still alive and strong and they don't tolerate any other males, it matters little they're their sons, in fact they have already chased them several times.

Now, think in some time maybe some of the Majingilane are dead and there's one remaining for whatever reason, be it he was chased away or he survived and still is dominant, then there would be a chance of him joining up with some young male/s.

Bu a lot has to happen first for something like this to happen.
