There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.
Our new member S Boultan needs community opinion on his project on animal conservation. Read his post and if possible help him by replying or sharing it to others who are qualified.
"Rachel Carson once said “Conservation is a cause that has no end. There is no point at which we will say our work is finished” • This is a rather fitting quote as conservation never sleeps, there’s always work to be done • In this instance I was fortunate enough to be able to witness the removal of a snare that had tightened itself around this males neck • The Red Road male had been spotted with a damaging and nasty snare around its neck • @the_conservation_vet gave this boy a chance to walk around without an unwanted piece of wire cutting into his neck • Snaring is an indiscriminate practice as it can affect an animal like an elephant all the way down to a small animal like a duiker • A practice that will be fought hard to stop and with more man power on the ground we can make an impact • It’s forever a humbling experience being able to sit next to a sleeping apex predator like this knowing that his paw is bigger than my hand is truly an awe inspiring moment • This is why I love what I do and will continue to do what I do!"
