There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Life in the wilderness is never easy and it’s fraught with dangers, death, struggling, survival and wars every day. Here a pictures that expresses wildlife in its truest meaning, seeing a mother in the jaw of a young lion from Zimanga and her baby clinging to her for the last moment. It is a matter of time until he catches up with his mother.. The survival of the fittest in the wild is an absolute truth.

Ethiopian forest lion. Harenna Forest sector of the Bale Mountains National Park, Ethiopia.

Harenna Forest's altitudes range from 4,600 ft to 10,500 ft. The lions are generally seen at the lower altitude parts of the forest, so the temperatures they experience are quite mild at those altitudes. At higher altitudes, the forest starts to look less and less tropical, the temperatures get chilly to sometimes freezing at night and can even lead to frost, so the lions would have a hairier appearance with much longer manes at those altitudes. These lions have been spotted in the alpine tundra at altitudes over 13,000 ft, where sub zero temperatures are common all year round and precipitation mostly falls as snow. I can only imagine how beautiful and unique the Ethiopian lions would look at those altitudes.

The warrior Modimo, born in 2011 and he lived a rough life in which he fought many battles, recently formed an alliance with two young lions were born in 2018 known as Tswalu males. Modimo is a well known in Madikwe, and has the features of a fierce lion. We hope that his alliance with the young lions will continue and strengthen with the days. Here is a wonderful picture of him taken by Adam, Many thanks for the valuable information about this impressive king.
