There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Today, the first anniversary of the death of the legend Sam, as on this day a year ago, his death was announced as a result of injuries after a fight with an unknown male till this moment at the age of 15 years. Sam and his brother Cheru are true legends of Nairobi. They ruled for a very long time and spread their genes as well and fought many battles like a real warrior lion. In this post we remember the lions that we have always followed and loved.
RIP Legends ❤️

- The last King standing -
"A couple of months ago the Bayala coalition came to a tragic end after the two males decided to venture up North in a quest to expand their territory. This led to a brutal confrontation with the two Northern males and now only the one remains to rule over both the Bayala and Mountain prides in the South."

Does anyone know who took this photo, and what the story behind it was? It was apparently featured on National Geographic a few years ago, but the URL listed in the comments is dead:

It's a photo from the photograph Mitsuaki Iwago's book "Serengeti".

@LandSeaLion :

After having posted the #1975 post, I don't know why but the link doesn't work. Thus make a search about "Mitsuaki Iwago" and click on the dated reference of 10-14-2015.
Then go at the #54 post.

A breathtaking shot of the lions that reside in Kafue National Park, three out of five brothers huge in shape. They left their natal pride which consists of more than 30 lions to find their own kingdom, this wonderful photo was recently taken by Iain McDonald.

Dynamic of the lions groups explained by some chinese (or japanese ?) narrators... Assortment of different accounts.

" 【内容简介】 雄狮是威武霸气的草原之王,在家族中有着不可撼动的地位,为了壮大自己的家族,成年雄狮会尽可能多的繁衍自己的后代,同时也要强化自己的领地,以防外来入侵者的故事。

Quote:A man who awoke to find a ferocious lion lurking outside his kitchen, has shared incredible footage of himself making his morning brew whilst the fearsome predator snarls at him through an open window. Dylan Panos woke early to find eight lions moving through his campsite - and one particularly feisty male eyeballing him and growling though his kitchen window. Dylan, who runs Bhejane Nature Training - a nature guide training company - was at his unfenced camp in Somkhanda Community Game Reserve, northern KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, when he found himself surrounded by the pride. A female lioness was lying right next to the kitchen and in a bid to pursue her, the male lion refused to budge leaving Dylan with no option but to continue making his much-needed coffee. Unbelievable footage shows the 46-year-old placing his kettle on a gas hob - directly underneath the window which is covered in just chicken wire and no glass - whilst the lion loudly growls at him and runs towards the window as if to attack.

4 brothers fight over a female. The aggression was high in this one, with two of them even kinda ganging up on one.
