Eye to eye with this handsome boy, something special about being lower than your subject out on foot, these two boys had a fresh baby elephant kill, Mana Pools.

Olonana and Senteu are like two peas in pod. They are hard to tell apart and most often found together. So we were very worried when we hadn't seen Senteu since the day Olonana was found with the arrow embedded in him. We feared the twins might have been on an escapade together and Senteu been more seriously wounded than Olonana- or worse.

So we were very happy to hear that Senteu had been seen yesterday evening and was back with Olonana.

Knowing your place in the feeding pecking order will go a long way to avoid claws digging into your eyebrows and face.

Move over Earless, you've got some competition in the "Largest Lion" Department.

Lions Of South Africa - KNP SS & Much More
The leeubron male is the lion currently considered the largest of KNP No lion is as big as the leeubron, This was said by several photographers who know them perfectly and know KNP like the palm of his hand

How big is this Leeubron male! You can find him on the S39

Now the other big boy...
Earless

My guess is that Earless is still the denser cat, judging from the videos above he's not any larger in frame than Boxer nose but he's certainly much thicker and I think it'd be the same with the Leeubron Male, probably similar in frame but Earless is probably the denser cat.

@Pckts :

About #1077: Nice find the Leeubron male ! It's the first time I'm seeing it... Is it the first time too that this lion is here mentioned ?

As to compare with Earless, the Leeubron male is able to seem more impressive because of its black mane. A black-maned lion being "the top of the look" among the males.
Earless, however, is perhaps, as you say the denser cat...

But, unlucky, let us not forget that Earless seems actually to go through a difficult time. His mane, in particular, is no more what it was.

I would discount this claim as hyperbole. Kruger National Park contains thousands of lions. No one photographer or ranger is familiar with even 10% of the lions in KNP. And as far as I've seen only two photographers have shot the Leeubron males, both being amateurs.

Of course, it's the same as claiming any Lion as the largest. There is no reason for any lions in S. Africa to get larger than Lions in E. Africa, E. Africa has the largest Lion population on earth and thus they'll have the largest individuals. The only credence I'll give for extraordinaire lion size would be in the Ngorongoro Crater and that is due to the cooler temps, year round herds of Buffalo, Wildebeest and Zebra, volcanic rich soil that contributes to healthier herbivores and the best protection in Africa. And while I couldn't notice a difference in Lion Size between the Serengeti and the Crater (the males I saw in the crater were too far off for me to get a great comparison) I certainly could notice a difference between the herbivores and especially the Elephants. The Tusks  on the elephants in the Crater are far thicker and larger than the Tusks I saw on Serengeti Elephants and my guide who worked in the Crater for 5 years said the Manes on the Lions in the Crater are always much thicker and cover the shoulder far more often than any where else in E. Africa.
