Are you sure this is the crater?
Landscape looks sparse for the crater but the one male has the notorious shoulder mane so I’m thrown.

Also, you should give credit to the photographer whenever possible.

Some areas in the crater are like that (it was labeled like that in a youtube community post). Or Ngorongoro CA may be possible.

I will give credit to the photographer if i know who captured it

I've been to the Crater, it's lush and green, surrounded by tree's and the caved in volcano rim with water in the center. I'm guessing this is from the Ngorongoro Reserve outside of the Crater or the neighboring Serengeti.

Like i said, I’ve been there. In all surrounding photos you can see the outline of the sunken volcano ridge. The flat area with no volcano ridge visible is a red flag to me. It’s possible since that lion has a Shoulder mane that’s notorious with crater males but judging  from the image, I’d bet it’s not.

Perhaps they are crater lions that had roamed out into the nearby Serengeti?

Serengeti is really far from the Crater, about a 5 hr drive. Generally once they roam to the crater they stay there. It’s much cooler with herds that stay put all year round. While the shoulder mane isn’t nearly as prevalent outside of the crater it can happen from time to time.

I dunno, it surprises me how far nomadic lions can travel. Back in 2017, Hjalmar was ousted from his pride in the crater - the next year, he was spotted near the border of the Serengeti!

It can happen it’s just rare. But fear of losing their life could definitely force them to take that risk.

These lions are from a private game reserve in the Karoo region of Western Cape, which is near Cape Town, so they're not exactly wild unfortunately. They could however, be a good foundation population for wild lions to return to the Cape region, which is also true for lions in Aquila Game Reserve.

Semi-wild can mean they were born in captivity but then sent out to the wilderness, usually under close supervision, they can hunt animals within the vicinity.

This is simply the dry season. Ngorongoro Crater after all changes depending on the season, so it's at it's greenest during the wet season. Manes like elsewhere vary in size, so some won't be as impressive as others. This is more evident in Ngorongoro Crater, where the cooler high altitude temperatures allows for a greater range of mane sizes, so males with massive manes covering their shoulders and arms can be in the same group as males with more "medium" sized manes that only cover up to the tips of their shoulders.
