There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

A shame he missed the fresh big buffalo kill that even the S.BDM took advantage of.

K4 UPDATE•
Our boy, K4, seems to be holding his own and looks better than he has these last few days. Lying in the shade this afternoon to cool down, he has fed well on the giraffe. Later in the evening, he moved to the sand road to lie down and rest up. It’s good that he’s also moving around.

To clear up someone’s misconception about the moving of the giraffe carcass:
the carcass was lying very near the lodge’s staff quarters and the stench was unbearable. The decision was made to move the carcass away from the lodge and staff quarters for their benefit, not to feed or provide food for K4. As it so happened, he wasn’t too far away from where it was moved. It would be appreciated if this individual would stop attacking the lodge and its staff and stop spreading false and inflammatory accusations.
All we want is for K4 to recover and reunite with us brothers.

For CONTEXT regarding the statement here about false information being said….for those who may not have seen or are aware:

there is an Individual on Facebook that I choose not to name and give more attention than he merits that made some inflammatory accusations about the reserve showing ‘favoritism” towards K4 because hes being ‘helped’.

He chose to take this position while ignoring the fact that K4 had been feeding on that carcass before any decision to move it was taken.

the carcass being moved was an independent decision that had no ties to his condition. He isn’t benefitting any more or less from the, moving it. Had they not moved, he was free to return and feed on it as he had already done.

Thank you for the update.  I know I was a bit upset that the carcass ended up near him again when it appeared he moved off of it.  It also does seem that SBDM may have taken exception to him after that as well, but who knows.  It did certainly seem convenient, but I would never disparage those on the ground even if I might question logic sometimes.  Then again.. who the hell am I?!?!  Nobody.. these people are there all the time.  I'm just a concerned idiot.

This seems positive.  Still a LONG way to go.  Could be months before healed.

New replacement member?  Ironic that SBDM was left by his brother for a similar reason it seems these 3 left theirs...

the fact that k4, being the most territorial male, is not present may facilitate the acceptance of the presence of the black dam male, probably, certainly, SBDM ironically is the luckiest male since he was abandoned by his brother, he remains with part of the nkuhuma pride and even does not suffer major damage from other males even though it has a problem with its leg

K4 is not abandoned, he cant follow his brothers around ( 3 where roaring, he knows their location, they might even meet already), he also prob wants to be alone at this point and not competing with his brothers over food or females. Its better for him to keep low profile near by, as he is sitting duck if some clash happen with rivals.

Same as K5 distanced after RRM incident.

Heavly injured lions want peace, food and time to recover.

He looks much better, my major worry here is the infection.

Some spray and antibiotics would be extremely beneficial now, but obviously they can't and shouldn't intervene since it's a natural injury.

Here is the video clip of K4 walking as the video earlier from lionlover Twitter cuts out to where K4 is walking to a shade, and seems like he can walk but he still needs to recuperate from the injuries.
