I feel bad for this jaguar.

But I've been following the dynamic of these beasts for years not only in Pantanal but also in Amazon,Cerrados,Caatinga areas. Just to be updated about the Jags letf in the wild you know haha.

''We've already identified 7 different Jags ever since we started our recent work at Pousada Trijunção, in the Cerrado. Amongst them there are 2 Melanistic Jags, 1 Adult male and 1 Young female''. ( the one on the photo above is the young female that was seen and registered first ). - onçafari. I just hope the Jaguar's severely endangered small population of Atlantic Forest increase as well.

Here are some of the footages of the female melanistic Jaguar from Cerrado along with another spotted Jaguar. Officially Posted in January this year. -This gorgeous black jaguar is one of the new jaguars we are monitoring in the Cerrado. We still don't have much information about her, but she was caught a few times on our camera trap footage. We recorded it at Trijunção Lodge BA. -Onçafari

What happens when a male Pantanal Jaguar crosses into the territory boundaries of another male Pantanal Jaguar and gets caught right on the spot???.

credits  nçafariIn this video the Onçafaris Project founder Mario Haberfeld interviews Ricardo Boulhosa executive coordinator of the institute Pró-Carnivoros which has partnership with Onçafari. MARIO - Ricardo is gonna tell us a bit about these skulls. tell us a little about this one, what animal is this skull? ( he grabs the Puma's skull at 24 secs) RICARDO - This is a Puma's skull, a very big cat with a nice large opening on it's jaw to allow its preys suffocation and we also got another skull ( he grabs the Jag's skull at 47 secs) which is the Jaguar skull and as you can see its opening capacity is way greater than the Puma's. And also another interesting thing that differs the Jaguar to the Puma is the bite power of a Jaguar which is cosidered the second strongest bite strengh amongst the land carnivores. Packing around 910 KGF of bite power. MARIO - Which one has the strongest bite? RICARDO - The strongest is the African Hyena's ( I am sure it's the Spotted one haha ). But from all big cats for example the Jaguar's bite force is stronger than the Lion's and Tiger's which are larger than the Jaguar. Its because if you compare the skulls together ( at 1:33min. side by side skulls ) You'll see that this arch over here that is called Zygomatic Arch is way larger and has a big space and the crest area on top is where the musculature resides that will provoke the snap bite. So since there's way more space ( in the hollow/hole area on the back of the skull ) there's much more muscles filling in the Jaguar's head than on other big cats. ( hence why it's got big rounded heads ). MARIO - I think its also interesting to mention that due to the tremendous power the Jag's bite has, they can also sometimes kill their prey by biting their necks and even their skulls. I think that unlike the majority of the big cats in Africa such as the Lion and Leopard that kill by suffocating their preys, the Jaguar has other ways to kill. RICARDO - Exactly and that's one of these characteristics for example the Puma uses the same technique as the Lions and Tigers which is the suffocation/strangle/choke, the Jaguar can also do this technique but one method it utilises to kill Tapirs for example is by cracking and then crushing their skulls base and the Jag can also break very stiff /hard resistant bones as well.
