It was said that he was attacked after going out on territorial patrol. I know he was in a very bad shape and probably not on a patrol per se, but your description of how it happened is just guess with no evidence.

What ?

That makes no sense, if an extremely old person dies from a disease the disease in question killed that person it's doesn't matter if that person would most likely die soon, old age is never the cause of death.

If the BB'S killed him it doesn't matter if he was barely alive when they got there they were still the ones killing him, regardless of how able he was to fight back plus the guide supposedly was present when they fought.

He actually didn't look that bad in those photos apart from the obvious wounds he looked fuller than in some pictures when he was still alive.

Yet the little of info I have been able to gather suggest nothing of the fight, nothing at all seen by the rangers, merely some wounds that were not fatal.

My advice to all of you is to slow down with the speculations because it leads to nothing, especially with the lack of a report from the people that's actually there.

Until there's some solid evidence outside of some words said by someone invisible, then we best let go of the subject and discuss other lions.

Thank you.

Let it go guys, you are free to have your own standards of evidence with alleged sightings like this. We have our own opinions on what might have happened but at the end of the day it's all speculation.

Sik, the problem is that there are pictures of Scar Nose showing injuries that generally come from a male lion fight. Especially if it was a gang up. You yourself broke this down and said the same thing on this thread.

Most likely he's been long dead. At that age male lions don't just disappear or leave the area for no reason.

Yet there's abosultely no sign of the crippling injury in the lower back, like it was done to the 5th or to Mr.T.

And also, lions don't peel off a patch of skin just because, nor do they cut off the tail, that's something hyenas would do.

So with that said, the options are left opened, and it doesn't really matter which one killed him.

Let us drop it until new evidence is presented by the lodges.

Yeah but others might have a more rigorous standard for what they will accept as fact. We are talking likely scenarios here, everyone doesn't have to agree.

I remember the slightly morbid convo we had about Scar Nose on YouTube a while back. Anyway thanks for those last photos of him.

Actually, there were marks that came from a lion attack. Scratch marks on the legs and such. And I agree, they don't peel the skin but Hyena don't leave that much food behind.

Anyway, I agree that it can be anything.

Scar nose would of been in diabolical condition. Still a fight though, not the result it may be would of been if it was prime scar nose but a fight nonetheless. Age and starvation obviously the main factors and he probably would of died shortly without this confrontation.

Thank you.

Rangers don't always blog. Their job is to take care of the tourists and manage the conservation of the areas. Their job is not to hop on to the internet and blog to the devoted lion followers. They have long shifts and a lot of stuff that happens doesn't actually get blogged or reported. I have been to sabi and followed charleston around, none of that made it on to the blogs, or the impending demise of one of the leopards there.

In this instance, we have to work with the facts. Scar nose was found dead with lion esque wounds on his back and the confrontation with Birminghams was witnessed by a singita ranger. The only doubt is whether the Birminghams killed him outright or if sn managed to escape and then got finished off via starvation or hyenas. This is all facts bro. Straight from the rangers themselves, the only speculation is people that refuse to believe it because it hasn't been blogged. When someone provides you facts, it's wise to listen, instead of speculating and asking for a ranger to post something which might not even happen. Let's just accept it and move on and find whats happening to dark mane

I understand Tshokwane's stance in this matter. He's not only a reference here, but also a moderator. It's good for the health of the community to have someone like him that needs the facts to be backed by proof. TRabbit on the other hand is a good poster, but when it comes to the Majingilane anything he posts can be heavily romanticized.
