This DM boy has one of the darkest manes in Kruger atm.

Not sure which pride is that, maybe Biyamiti pride.

@Brahim who controls this area atm?

Wow! I am not sure that I have seen a male with more black in his mane than this, that is spectacular! Who are these boys, where do they come from, what prides do they control?

The Kruger National Park and the Endangered Wildlife Trust are conducting a spatial capture-recapture survey to ID how many lions there are in Kruger.

Here is some links to articles covering this project:

3 males, origins unknown (prob from around H1-1 road), born in 2017, first started to appear around Transport Dam and S65/H1-1 juction in early 2021.

We kinda named them:

Then they moved east, and are successors of s26 males territory around Mpondo Dam since ~ late 2021/ early 2022. I know they control Mpondo pride.

Sightings of them are rare, but they are stunning specimens.

Thank you, for that, they are indeed incredible looking males. Is it believed they are the ones who killed the S26 males? I remember when all that was going on, reports of some males in the area, but I don't recall that they were ever identified, I don't recall there even being video of the males that were being claimed to be in the area.

I dont think so, 3 s26 males expanded east towards H5 where they meet their doom later in 2022, i think nobody knows who killed them (I think most likely Makhohlola males are responsible for that).

That whole situation was weird, that one guy videos the one dying S26 male (actually moved the body, then moved it back when people got upset), then the next day he filmed a second S26 male severely wounded, lying under a tree, in the process of dying. He said there were other males seen in the are, but we never saw them.
