There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Bajrang, the undisputed ruler of Mohurli and Teliya

The Young King Matkasur

from June/2016 (this post has no mention of Narsimha, who started appearing towards the end of the year)

Quote:There was a time when Matkasur male tiger ruled a huge territory from Koshekanar canal road to Jamun Bodi, hilltop till Jamni village, and with no other male tiger to challenge him; the area erstwhile ruled by Gabbar and Saturn aka Namdeo.

As time passed, the elusive Navegoan male tiger appeared more frequently, and Gabbar returned from exile.

News that Gabbar fought with Matkasur surfaced, and with Matkasur being badly hurt. Hope that the king is safe.

Quote:T54, interchangeably referred to as New Matkasur Male or Pandu has certainly come of age. Originally of the Katezari valley, as a sub-adult, this male had already started making in-roads into mainstream Tadoba. After having been occasionally seen in the lake area, he chose to settle in theMatkasur area, taking the name that was earlier rightfully of an older tigercalled Namdev.

Slowly and steadily, he was seen in parts of Jamni and then Kosekanar, making it quite clear that he was establishing himself quite well in these parts. His movement around the Lake Area upto Kala-Amba is still regular, although he seems to prefer his time at Kosekanar overseeing his cubs with T7 or Choti Tara.
I have been on the lookout for him even earlier and had seen him on a few occasions, but none really worth remembering, since each time he was deep in the thickets or resting across the fireline at a distance. Him, being the most seen male in Tadoba these days, obviously made me up the ante this time.
And when it happened, I realised that I hadn't even started. He just appeared out of nowhere walking one early morning, resting a while on the track, walking a mile calmly until a few cars appeared to disturb him. He, thus vanished towards his regular haunt that he visits as part of his regular beat.
His confidence now seems to be at its peak, with reasonable territory under his watch. He was also seen recently mating with T12 or Maya. For now and the way it looks, he is here to stay. Time shall tell...

earlier, a lot of us believed that he was one of Saturn aka Namdev's son but that was wrong and now that we have evidence. he was actually
fathered by Katezari male and Jamunjhora female in early 2012, no doubt he's rising up the ranks and is one of the most interesting tigers to follow.
