There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Africa has the largest Lion population on earth and thus they'll have the largest individuals. The only credence I'll give for extraordinaire lion size would be in the Ngorongoro Crater and that is due to the cooler temps, year round herds of Buffalo, Wildebeest and Zebra, volcanic rich soil that contributes to healthier herbivores and the best protection in Africa. And while I couldn't notice a difference in Lion Size between the Serengeti and the Crater (the males I saw in the crater were too far off for me to get a great comparison) I certainly could notice a difference between the herbivores and especially the Elephants. The Tusks on the elephants in the Crater are far thicker and larger than the Tusks I saw on Serengeti Elephants and my guide who worked in the Crater for 5 years said the Manes on the Lions in the Crater are always much thicker and cover the shoulder far more often than any where else in E. Africa.
I wasn't have a go at you by the way. Just the facebook brand of lion sensationalism that is fairly pervasive and often based on speculation rather than credible sources.
