And I would agree with him. Most of the pics show a lion after gorging himself and it's natural that he's going to look big.
However, lions tend to be on the leaner side for a very specific reason. The territorial patrols they conduct for one side, and mating bouts for another, force them to fast for several days at times, so it's natural they look like this most of the time.
