There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.
From post #1809: In his book "Travel in Ussuri region" Prjevalsky describes for first time Amur tiger. Unlike now in 19 century there were a lot of men-eaters among Amur tigers he says; probably tigers start to avoid people only with wide spreading of guns in Russian Far East. He also describes that he saw personally a giant tiger skin. It appears that just as the modern rifle transformed the disposition of the American grizzly so did it greatly change the disposition of the Amur tiger. Also, where there were once bigger grizzlies, so perhaps there were bigger tigers.
