I actually think that claim that every coalition has 1 dominant/leading male for ever is hard exaggerated, just like Rob said.

The most dominant/leading male of coalition is the male who is the strongest/most agressive, confident atm in a coalition,and that can change month to month,day to day. 

Makhulu was clearly that in the
 early ages when other mapogos where not in his prime yet, and from that time people called him The Leader. 

The same can be said for Dark Mane Majingilane, Matimba Ndunha, Bboy Nsuku etc,they where all leaders in early ages because they where the strongest, oldest, biggest. Later on all males in a coalition where "the most dominant" at some point. Reply
