Agree that infection is the main cause of concern at this point. The holes look to be quite deep, infection can happen quickly I fear. Good thing that he can put weight on his leg, that's a good sign, most likely nothing is broken. So apart from infection risk I think it will heal. 

Other real concern imo is starvation (and increasing weakness from not eating). Not urgent atm yet but it may be in a week or so. He does not have a (~ stationary) pride with females to fall back to. Only his brothers but they venture into other areas too much (following buffalo), I wouldn't count on them providing him with meals, at least not regularly, if K4 cannot keep up the pace. That is just hopeful thinking imo. Reply
