James Tyrell:" This was rather an unusual one, in that two unrelated prides were feeding off the same buffalo carcass. One was a semi-established pride with a couple of older females, the other a group of newly independent 2-year olds.
Although there was a bit of growling between the two groups, there was far more tolerance than one would from rival prides. No cubs were there and all that was at stake was a meal, which was effectively big enough for all to share. In this situation the risks of active conflict were outweighed by the benefits of tolerance and a meal. That night when all had had their fill, each pride simply walked off in opposite directions into the darkness... "
