There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Male lion, Okavango

The same type of vehicle with human comparison.

He's either extremely short or he's standing on a side hill because they aren't very high, certainly not sternum height

Here you can see my guide in front of one and he was very short, my GF who is pictured in the foreground is 5'7'' and she was quite a bit taller than him.

Below is a good image of a Lioness walking directly in front of our jeep and a jeep ahead of us.

Obviously any Lion with a shoulder height even close to the hood level is still very tall.

@Pckts I think this is a different vehicle, maybe to drive in the swamps.

Very big car

I'm not sure about that, considering the guide, male and female are all the same height minus the man in blue, I'm sure they are all short as well.

Here's a few others

Looks to be a little above waist level for a 6' ish man is my guess.
A few more lions to compare below as well...

Did a little more research than I was expecting for late 80s early 90s Land Cruisers and their overall height is 72'' (6') or so, the hood height should be a little above half so around the 3'6'' mark is reasonable, land cruiser are already high riding trucks and these trucks don't look especially lifted just a few mods so they can drive through deep water without getting water in the air intake.

I think the guy in a blue shirt is about the same height as the guy in the first picture just from different angles.

The other pictuers I really don’t get tbh?
I think the other cars you posted where large too? Especially the first one, which I think is the same as the one I posted (different colour)

The hood looks to be around belly button height for men like this

Assuming both are 6'ish...

I think it's a safe guess that  hood height is between 3 1/2' to 4' at most, I'd guess most lions would be like the 2 males previously posted with exceptional ones coming close to the hood height.

Some sad, but interesting pictuers of hyenas compared with humans. I know the people are standing behind, but I found some with a cople of hyenas that seemed like big induviduals, and these seemed quite good to compare as they seem placed pretty close to eachother and and also taken from a good angle, (I got that about the angle comfirmed by my friend who is a photagapher haha, as I have no idea myself..)

Sighting the resident dominant Male is always special! A Resident Dominant Male plays a very very significant role and is the support on which vests the fortune, safety and survival of all the female tigers and their cubs in that area. If the resident dominant male starts to lose his ground - the other tigers are at a grave risk. This is the iconic dominant male of Tipeshwar who is firmly holding his ground for quite some time now.

Suzuki SUVs are generally 67'' Wide or so, they don't take up the whole lane but the Star Male does, a good estimate of his HBL should be around 6' or more.
