Two tigers challenged a sloth bear. The bear stood its ground and the tigers were not ready to attack and the bear ran off.
Very rare incident captured on camera.

Interesting on how the two cats seem to be very chosey of their prey: with leopards and chitals, and with tigers and guars. We've known accounts of adult male leopards killing fully-grown elands in Africa, but that is a rare case. Tigers, on the other hand, seem to overwhelmingly go for the challenge-- the largest prey possible.

Maybe there are biological differences in the choosing of prey between big cats.

@Polar :

About #1015 and #1016: yes, agree with what you say and I would add that, among the common preys between tiger, leopard and dhole i.e. chitals, sambars and wild pigs, the tiger kills almost exclusively the adult males (of chitals, sambars and wild pigs). Whatever the quoted prey, gaur included, the tiger prefers the adult male (I don't take into account the sloth bear).
