In 0:40 you can see sub adult male from Mbiri pride being quite siginificantly smaller than adult female so I persume video is from 2 or more years back.

Shame for RRM's offspring if theres only 4 cubs left, there was 17 if im not mistaken..

But this only show us how hard is for lone males to keep their offspring safe and alive, same situation is for Othawa male, because 1 male cant regulary patrol their territory/keep other lions out and at the same time protect his pride..

Thats why coalitions with bigger numbers are usually far more succesfull in raising cubs, because no other lions will enter their territory if they hear multiple male roars..

So the Nharus must have lost the five cubs this week, since the last video I posted of them was very recent. Who could they be fighting with? There are no new males the the area and the Tintswalo Males are definitely not territorial. I’m thinking Mbiri females but I would think they would stay away if Red Road is with them..... very strange.

Either Tintswalo males or some males from Imbali. There is no way Mbiri females would atack adult, prime male like RRM. Tintswalo males are definitelly already in the age they will look to takeover some pride and the nera by, big and poorly protected Nharu pride look like perfect fit for them.

We obiviously dont know what happened, but i doubt they would be found so close to Mbiris and Tintswalo males territory if they where attacked by them, and so relaxed, they would prob be far more distance from there.. Also, rangers would prob know or heard by now if any clash happened between them and from the recent video, rangers said that Tintswalo males are almost always seen with Mbiri females, and rarely seen alone vandering around..

@Gijima Nharus love to go east in the area of Imbali pride (they where also seen recently in Manyeleti) , when last time they went east few months ago, they also returned without 1 female and 5 cubs...

Imbali pride male is also massive beast and with help of his 7 adult females, i dont think he is intimidated of RRM (he alone chased 2 big Skybed sons +1 unknown male recently).

Also, those 2 Skybed sons are very close to Nharus territory, just few km east, they are big and obiviously in search for territory.. Hamiltons pride male is also there with his gruop of females, maybe Talamatis from the south.. Its really hard to tell what happened..

Maybe we get some more info from Tintswalo..

RRM have bite marks on his back so he must have fought more than single male.

Rangers do not track those lions 24/7 and territorys of Nharu and Mbiri prides are so close settled that Tintswalo males wouldn't need to go far at all to atack RRM.

Not necessarily, in pride clashes, females often support their male and with him attack other males..

They dont, but they would prob know something if 2 pride clashed near their Camp.

Also, theres 0 evidence for now that Tintswalo males yet have confidence to fight or challenge dominant male..

So, thinking thats them just because they are near RRM and Nharus is no evidence at all..

Also, it doesnt have to be that those cubs where killed by other lions, they might also get lost, or killed by hyenas etc..

I noticed his bite marks too really aren’t that deep. I actually had to look a few times to see those injuries.

Yeah, I can’t say one way or the other but I think the biggest mystery is why they keep moving such huge distances. That’s pretty much the reason the Mhangeni Pride lost their cubs. Think how far the walk fromMain Dam to Buffleshoek area would be for a cub. I’m sure a few of the. are just getting lost like that.

I agree they probably had an altercation with lion to their east, lions not based in Manyeleti but Kruger itself, it is even mentioned in the video, they wandered to the east a bit recently, isn't it. However, it doesn't have to a male lion trying to take over to cause death of the cubs, anything chasing them from a carcass or something, like another pride strogn enough regardless of composition, might create enough commotion that some cubs might get separated and lost (and actually killed later by anything that finds them). And it doesn't have to a single event that caused mising cubs, there is even a possibility, another female is with some of them somewhere, but for sure Red Road had a misunderstanding with someone, who went for his back as well, so likely another male lion with some support, especially considering Red Road is quite a specimen (it was discussed in this thread guides consider him the biggest male in Manyeleti, soem time ago,  now it doesn't take much). At the same time, we don't know how the other male looks like afterwards, I'm inclined to believe it was more than one though.

It would be interestng, if Red Road actually loses Nharu pride, where he will go and whether he find himself a partner and turns it around like his father. He already managed to dodge Orpens before, just need stability to have time for his cubs, now in Nharu pride or wherever later. He is what close to 7 years old, right?
