There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

South Avocas are now the dominant males of Sand River Pride. (Kirkman's Kamp)

"A new beginning - again - for the Sand River Pride.
Over the past 4 years, the Sand River Pride has been dominated by 3 different coalitions of male lions.
Life is not easy for lions in the wild - each time male lions take the pride over, they kill cubs and chase away the remaining sub-adult lions, leaving only adult lionesses and so the pride struggles to grow in size.
The Sand River Pride has been diminished from 11 lions to just 2 adult females.
However, under the dominance of the Avoca males, one of the lionesses has just had a litter of 3 (maybe 4) cubs and for the first time in 3 years the Sand River Pride have moved their den site back onto our concession.

We hope the future is bright for this pride of lions." by: Josh van der Ploeg, Matt Smith and Joel Hlatshwayo 06-02-2020

Dark Mane Avoca roaring and scent marking on Djuma, on SafariLive :

With Nkuhumas and his 2 brothers hanging further south, it seems that he and Talamatis moved into Nkuhumas former core territory on Djuma.

Eye to Eye with the dominant Southern Avoca male. The two Southern Avoca males are currently spending majority of their time with the Sand River pride in the kruger National Park near Rhino Post.
