you're right Tigerluver, both these sub-adults are pretty large for their ages and can easily compare with dominant males in other parts of the country.. would love to find out which one of the two will challenge KZT085 for the territory.. If my memory serves me right, KZT023 was also the alleged father of KZT085 so history is bound to repeat itself.. we've seen it all in Bandhavgarh, Tadoba etc etc..

I remember a quote from Kanwar Juneja who photographed KZT023 live and he said KZT023 was easily the largest male he had ever seen and he was very familiar with Bamera and other famous males around Central/Northern India and looking at KZT023's dimensions, one must not be surprised..he truly was the biggest photographed raw in daylight but then there's plenty other from camera trap that can easily compare with his size. KZT083 to me shows a greater potential and might even be a record-breaking heavy weight if captured and weighed.

this is another one of my favorite male on his rhino kill, the size of his head, his paws and overall robustness is on a level of it's own..

If Wagdoh is considered an high-end Maserati then some of these larger males from Kaziranga are probably Rolls Royce Phantom in comparison.

here is my favorite picture of KZT023 that showcases his true size

quote by Kanwar Juneja who claimed KZT023 was the biggest male he had ever photographed in the wild and he was very familiar with Khali (Corbett males) Katezari and other males from (Tadoba) and Bamera of (Bandhavgarh).

some time ago, Dr.Ullas Karanth also claimed that the largest tiger he had ever seen was from Kaziranga and a recent email from famous Big Cat expert Dr.Melvin Sunquist proved that these were tigers with much greater potential compared to the rest.

New K-Male and mate in Dhikala...... this very large male and female have not been seen in this area previously and seem to have chased away the dominant male tiger of this area..... the tigress looks bigger than the average male tiger in other areas...... — at Jim Corbett National Park.

Since the time I came to know about the Link 7 tigress cub killed by a male tiger, I was very curious to see the male, and here it is... The link7 female with the male that had killed the cub. He is huge fellow, people who had seen the link7 tigress know how huge she is and here in the picture one can see she's looking like a cub in camparasion to the male.

June 30th the closing day for kanha National Park. Today in evening safari we had wonderful farewell by link 7 female, 20 jeeps were waiting for her just 100 mtrs away from us ,but she just came and crossed the road just 10 feet from us no one cud see her exept us. Will have to wait for three month to see her again. ALL WELL ENDS WELL
Here she is starving, but you can see her large frame still.

Must be a big male that is lying next to her.

The sexual dimorphism there is pretty astonishing.

Indeed, especially since the link 7 female has been reported by multiple eye witnesses to be a very large female and she looks like a cub lying next to that large male.
May be Roflcopters can ID him

KZT023 was on a league of his own, sort of like Wagdoh is around Central India at the moment. Infact i'd give Wagdoh the edge over any Central Or Southern males but North East India he has some serious rivals.

Waghdoh looking lean and mean.

The older he gets the more drastic weight fluxuations I see on him, he got very skinny (for him) last year as well then put on a lot of mass. It's not just "gorged" weight, you see it in his body densisty. I wonder if during this time of year he hast to hunt a smaller faster prey? Who knows, just an observation.

Yeah I agree, he is getting very skinny at certain times of the year, for the last few years now! He is getting quite old now, and its probably harder for him to hunt now... I  often see him putting on a lot of weight during the calfing season every year, when its a high density of young animals that are easy to hunt! When most of the prey items out there is adult, healthy animals, its going to be harder to hunt for such a heavy, fat tiger like Wagdoh! thats probably because he gets thin, he gets less food, and getting skinnier is probably an advantage aswell, because its easier for him to hunt those fast animals Wink

Love the waghdoh silhouet with the beatiful landscape. I always like these shots cause it gives you appreciation of how lucky you really have to be to see this animal, such dense brush, you really have to have great guides.

Yeah guides should be given a great deal of credit for acctually finding the Tigers! When you acctually see one in the Wild, and especially a male like Wagdoh, it gives you goosebumps!
