Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Instance of a wild fishing cat injured and its rescue in Bangladesh

A fishing cat (Prionailurus viverrinus) was injured in Chadpur (part of the Chattogram division) in a road accident. The injuries are severe and one of its eyes almost popped out. It has been rescued and given treat which has improved its health condition a little. Bakhtiar Hamid describes the injuries, rescue and the current condition of the cat. His FaceBook Page (Bakhtiar Hamid). I have included the Bengali text so more awareness can be raised.

English:

The fishing cat became a victim of an accident with a motorcycle last night while crossing the road in Chandpur, Darshan. Suffered severe head injuries as well as continuous bleeding from eyes, mouth and nose. The right eye is almost out of front! A damaged tooth and numerous cuts in the mouth. Shaheen Sarkar, Jhantu, Mamun and his friends came to rescue the cat from there. At night, Ahsan gave first aid to Habib Bhai and handed him over to the forest department in the morning. Later in the Department of Livestock, we showed him (the injured cat) to Dr Shaown Hasanat and made arrangements for treatment. The situation is still unchanged. The head injury seems a bit complicated. Still making arrangements so that the animal gets proper treatment. I express my gratitude and thanks to all those who have continued their efforts to save the animal from the rescue work. Now let's see what happens!

Update on the condition of the fishing cat:

English:

The injured cat (Fishing Cat) in the road accident is a bit healthy after being treated for some time, but the sight of the right eye has probably gone out due to serious injury! Eye drops are given on on vet advice but it seems the eye is unlikely to recover. But he can see well in one eye. The right side tooth also has a little injury. Cannot eat solid food. Fish are eaten in small quantities when boiled and liquefied, as well as somewhat kept alive by feeding on saline water. The injuries to his teeth and mouth might heal in a day or two but the worry now is whether he can survive with one eye left. However, even if I think of neurological problem due to head injury, I don't see that danger for now. Now the dose of medicine is complete and after two days it will be understood whether the animal can be released.

An absolutely stunning of image of the elusive and rare Marbled cat (Pardofelis marmorata) in Hazarikhil Wildlife Sanctuary in Bangladesh. This cat is also found in the Northeast (Sylhet division) region of the country. Credits to Md Nahidul Islam.
