Anyone know the story behind this image? - Saiya - 01-13-2018

It shows a leopard (likely a male) that supposedly successfully fended off or held back an attack by a male lion? I've often seen it showing up as the video thumbnail on Youtube by lion haters. Looks like a scan from a book or magazine.

The leopard seems to be superimposed... Is this a "Photoshop" (or such a software like this) manipulation ?

I once watched a leopard successfully escape an entire pride of lions on a documentary. I do not remember the details but I do remember being amazed.

The longest stand off between a leopard and 3 lioness. They were 2 meters away of each other but none could make a move that lasted more than 4 hours.(photo by A.Bett)

Incredible indeed!
Leopard are viscous enough to fight off lions/tigers when their life is in line. Apparently it's not that uncommon, as in savanna there are often no trees in vicinity.

There are several videos of sighting where leopards survived multiple lionesses, although i've only another involving a male.

...& none where the Panther held its ground like in the photo!
