Incredible, the one I saw in the zoo looked nothing like this.

The stellar sea eagle I saw was definitely more impressive than the harpy but a guy like this would be a different story

One of the best photographs of a wild Harpy eagle and it's prey I have seen. Seems like it caught a male howler monkey about similar in weight. If so, it's likely the eagle was an experienced female. 

Steve Townson saw her come out of the canopy with the howler in her claws, meaning she carried a monkey her size for some distance. Very impressive.

Great work and a few nice pics to finish the post. I saw a wild harpy eagle in the interior of Surinam when I was there. I wonder if studies have been conducted in that region. Is anything known about their present status? Are they protected in Venezuela?
