One early morning driving on our way from Skukuza to Tshokwane we encountered this very large male lion who is part of the Mantimahle coalition. This is one of the best videos of a male lion roaring that we have. We were also fortunate to witness this sighting all to ourselves.
Taken in the Kruger National Park Game Reserve South Africa 2017.

By the looks of recent sightings, Mantimahles moved into Renosterkoppies area, around s21, ex Mpondos territory..

So picture of dominant coalitions around central south Kruger looks like this (not 100% correct borders ofc) :

It seems that Mpondos could be in a lot of pressure soon, Mantimahles in the north and hungry Mjejanes in the south..

What a fantastic sighting of the 5th Mantimahle with one of the two big S36/Mantimahle young males seen recently on the move.
Now seems that the Mantimahle are split in two groups 3 and 3 (#1, #3 and #4) with the #5 (#6 and #7 Mantimahle young males)
