Pygocentrus cariba: the most aggresive and famous of all piranhas, in Venezuela people call them Caribe Capaburro (Donkey castrator) they attack in large groups, they grow from 25 to 35 cm long  larger specimens weight over 1 kg, big piranhas 30 cm or larger have teeth 9 milimeters long with a lot of power in their jaws. They are very spectacular when they attack, normally when I go to the Venezuelan Llanos I give them a huge piece of meat that they devour very fast as can be seen in the video.

Black Piranha (Serrasalmus rhombeus) 32 cm long, this specimen is from the Venezuelan Llanos, it is one of the less common piranhas in the Aquarium world because this variant can not be exported from Venezuela like they do in other countries. They grow up to 45 cm long and weight up to 3 kilograms. Locals call them Caribe Ojos Rojos (Red Eye Caribe) or Caribe Negro (Black Caribe) People call piranhas Caribes in Venezuela. It is one of the most aggresive piranhas in captivity but they normally dont attack people in the wild.
There are different variants in different rivers in Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia, Guyana, Ecuador and Peru. Black piranhas are one of the bigger species with the largest specimens reaching 50 centimeters long (20 inches) and 4 kilograms (8,8 pounds). Hobbiest around the world love them, they look great in Public Aquariums they are exported from Peru in Huge sizes 45 cm (18 inches) long. They live up to 20 years and more in captivity.

Serrasalmus manueli is one of the largest piranhas reaching a length over 50 cm long (20 inches) and 4 kg (8.8 pounds), the one pictured was captured in Venezuela in Rio Cinaruco by Oliver Blatnik, it weighted 2,2 kg (4,84 pounds).
Distribution: parts of the Amazon and Rio Orinoco basins in northern Brazil, Venezuela and Colombia It’s range covers the Rio Negro, Rio Xingu and tributaries including the Rio Cassiquiare, Rio Atabapo and Rio Cunucunuma.

Catoprion mento (Wimpel Piranha)
It feeds largely on the scales of both conspecifics and other species in nature, and has specially adapted teeth in order to do so. This doesn’t mean you need to feed live fish in the aquarium. The vast majority of specimens will accept chopped prawn, mussel, lancefish and other meaty foods.
Juveniles tend to form shoals, but an adult fish really should be housed alone, as a single specimen. Females in particular become particularly belligerent as they mature and will attack males constantly.
Size: 6″ (15cm). Usually a little smaller.
Distribution: Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Brazil and Bolivia.
