He was snared, poached. Don't know about the broken back.

You confuse two different situations. He was found with a "snare" about year before he died. Vet has been informed about that, but after closer inspection "snare" turned out to be purcupine spike and no intervention was needed.

This morning we were surprised by the two Charleston males moving around the central part of Sabi Sabi!  It’s good to have the two males back, but for how long, we do not know…
