One of the Charleston boys seen yesterday on the S65. Even with that broken tooth, he is still fat and healthy.

A Special moment with my favorite male Lion, Mr. Charleston... He is 1 of 2 brothers in the coalition known as the Charleston Males. His brother was busy mating with a Lioness when these photos were taken on Saturday the 17th June 2017... Mr. Charleston was limping badly and it seemed like him and his brother might have had a little fight because he was avoiding his brother, when normally brother Lions have a really close bond.
I hope they can settle their differences soon, because I am very excited about their new territory and how the Lion population and dynamics will change now that they've claimed new territory in Kruger National Park... Enjoy!!! Wink Quintin van der Merwe

In a surprise turn of events, one of the Charleston males returned to join the Southern Pride, and challenge them for their kill. The females were not too happy with him!

Big news in is that one of the Charleston males is back. Since our update on Saturday, he was seen trying to mend the bonds with the Southern Pride as he continuously attempted to get closer to the pride. The females, however kept their distance as they seemed insecure and felt pressured as the kept their cubs a comfortable distance away.

Jaja yeah, something like that. I'm trying a bit harder to at least read a few posts and even put some myself, it's going to be a while before I catch up completely but it's good to be at least more in touch with the forum, I was missing it and you lads as well.

are there any coalitions that can truly threaten the charlestons as dominant males considering how much time they are spending in the kruger now days?

The only coalition around that can challenge and beat them are the mantimahle males, and that is only if they come from the Kruger and try to take over the sabi. But other than that, these guys are too strong to be pushed around by any other coalition, currently in the sabi, of 2 or even 3.

the 3 tsalala boys can change the lion dinamic at sabi sabi if they have lucky in attack the charleston in the right moment. at this moment only one charleston is there. a good opportunity to the tsalalas as they are walking around sabi sabi for some weeks already!

From Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve:
"The Southern Pride, along with the one Charleston male, spent the day at a watering hole and we witnessed the true nature of the supposed “Kings of the jungle” as they turned tail and fled at the sudden appearance of a herd of elephants who wanted to come and drink."
