"Is Tarun the same male in Tala and Khitauli?

Is Chinkoo son of Bamera?  Is Chinkoo and the Banbehi male same? I am sorry but, i am confused."

Yes Tarun is the same male in Tala and Khitauli.
He was seen controlling Khitauli first and then took over most of the tourism zone.
I personally feel Tarun was the reason for Chinkoo's disappearance.

Chinkoo could possibly be related to B2's bloodline, Im just guessing based on his compact, robust and muscular physique.
Banbehi  and Chinkoo are two different males.
Banbehi male is much younger than Chinkoo.

I don't think either was weighed to my knowledge.
I know one of Malachis daughters was verified at 170kg though and her sister was said to be larger than her.
Malachi was said to be a big girl as well in her prime.

Thanks man..By the way, Boldchamp disagree with Ustad(T-24) is actually weighed..I will quote his words..

"I've seen the document on Ustad. But, it was an estimate, because one source says he was 240 kg, and another says 250 kg. I looked at the original document, but it gives no indication that tiger was weighed. It just lists the weights of a sub-adult and adult female, at 122 and 133 kg."

@Pckts what do you think about this...

Its confirmed he was weighed.
Email verification is here.
I'll even find the link for you.
He was 240kg at age 3.5 years old, he was 250kg when captured and put into his enclosure years later.

If you want to see the 250kg weight in the paper, that is on the "ustad: man eater thread"
They actually used 270kg worth of tranq on him and I thought I read that it wasn't enough, but don't hold me to that.

Also make sure you mention to Bold that Ustad is actually a middle of the pack tiger in Ranth.
He smaller than T42, T25 and T29 and his son is his size as well.

Invite bold here, I see he's still at it.
Would be interesting to see his claims here and the responses he would get.
This forum is filled with great info and posters, that stuff wouldn't slide.
Its all about verification, I think I speak for most when it comes for accepted data.
Usually we search out as much verification as possible and then we use that data.

Can you show the document where you got the weights for the females?
To my knowledge only machlis daughter has been weighed and she was 170kg.

120kg and 133kg for two 2 year old females is actually quite impressive.
Those were Bina 1 and Bina 2 "orphaned cubs" from Jan. 22, 2013 Page. 8
The male that died and female that was 170kg were both introduced before that.

Heres the other female that was moved to sariska later who weighed 170kg and the male who was moved there as well

"A new tigress arrived at Sariska tiger reserve on Friday. The three-year-old, 170-kg animal was airlifted from Ranthambore tiger reserve, and was brought in the hope that she will form one half of a breeding pair,..." Source

Some photos of ranthambore tigresses, "

Here is the tiger they were talking about, it was a sub adult Tigress who they were transferring to Sariska
"A tigress, about three to four years old, was brought to Sariska from Ranthambore national park by a helicopter. It reached at around 11.45 am today (Friday)," a state government official said.

He said the tiger is about 160-170 kg and is being kept in a separate enclosure. "
http://www.dnaindia.com/scitech/report-t...er-1175654

And this is the Male that was transferred with them, I believe

T10 was translocated to Sariska in 2008.
He weighed in at 220Kg at 4 years during translocation.
But unfortunately he died, the reason could be either poisoning or territorial battle.

He was poisoned by the villagers. He was also known as Darra. There is a documentary on the translocated tigers of Sariska, in which he starred. Towards the end it is mentioned that Darra was poisoned. This was also the eventual conclusion, at first the forest dept wanted to save face since losing the translocated tiger after having the entire population wiped out, was very embarrassing for them.

He was the first male to be translocated to Sariska. I am not sure when the second male was shifted, because the documentary said the second male was translocated after Darra's death. If it was after his death, then there is no question of territorial battle being the cause.

Everybody I spoke with who have seen them usually say that T28 is the largest of the pack and T25(ustads bro) was larger than he is.

Have you seen them all?
I know its hard to tell but who do you think would be the largest there?

RE: Tiger Directory - Pckts - 09-08-2015

A side note, the two males confirmed from Ranth have been 220kg at age 4 for T10 and 240kg @ at age 3.5 for Ustad/T24 and Jhumroo at 280kg (?)
Does this mean that we need to start looking at Ranth Tiger weights as the upper limits of tigers per population?

Jhumroo was said to be 280kg

*This image is copyright of its original author

But I never saw any real confirmation on this.

"T20 aka Jhumroo a 11 year old male tiger was finally tranquilized and later released deep inside the protected area. As per eye witness Jhumroo, who is otherwise very shy in  nature was probably enjoying his meal of cattle when a villager got too close to his comfort and was attacked. As  news started spreading & place was full of tamasha viewers, one  more man got entangled in the bushes and fell, he was also attacked  by  tiger leaving him with multiple injuries to nurse. By this time more villagers had gathered at the spot, approximately 700 in number making the rescue operation more difficult. Before things could turn ugly, forest department under leadership of DCF (Core) Mr. Y.K Sahu along with one forest guard Rajveer & tourism driver Raees Bhai swiftlytranquilized the tiger and moved him away to safety of protected area. Mr. Sahu lead his team from front-reached the spot himself & directed the entire operation, he wasinfact first to walk towards tiger post darting to ensure that this gentle beast was sedated properly . Sensing mood of crowd, he also moved the tiger immediately from spotto avoid any undesired incident. Since the department personnel were clearly outnumbered & crowd had already man handled the local SDM & some police officials during theoperation, this surely was a wise move. The tiger has been sighted by forest department today afternoon in the area he was released yesterday & seems to be doing fine. During monsoon time village cattle startsflocking the forest for grazing, as the natural prey base shift to higher places these animals become an easy catch for big cats. The search for easy prey had probablytaken this 280 kg giant to forest periphery on the eastern side of Park boundary. "

Do you know if this is verified @Shardul?

RE: Tiger Directory - GuateGojira - 09-08-2015

Wow, that would be perfect. I think that we had been very lucky these days confirming new weights. We most put all our efforts to found if this weight of 280 kg for Jhumroo is true. If it is, it will be a new record!

Interesting, as far I remember, in the book "Exotic Aliens" of Valmik Taphar, it say that the "modern" population of Ranthambore tigers came from a "reintroduction" of specimens from the Gwalior region. This could explain why this tigers are so large.

@Pckts, did you know the source of that article about Jhumroo? We could contact the author just like you done with that of Ustad and the weight of 240 kg.

Edit: I found the article and an email address here: http://www.tigerwalah.com/tiger-attack-my-take/

The weight: "The search for easy prey had probably taken this 280 kg giant to forest periphery on the eastern side of Park boundary."

The people in the capture: "...forest department under leadership of DCF (Core) Mr. Y.K Sahu  along with one forest guard Rajveer & tourism driver Raees Bhai  swiftly tranquilized the tiger and moved him away to safety of protected area". "DFO Sahu, Rajveer, Raees Bhai & Dr. Dharmendra in action".

I have write to them right now, let's see what happen. Like

Actually, I have seen only T24 and 25. A naturalist told us that T24,25 and 28 were about the same size, 28 being slightly bigger. He was talking in context of our safari, which was in zone 4 and he said we had a good chance of sighting since the three males were fighting over the now deceased T-17 and zone 4 happened to be her territory. Eventually, we saw 25 & 17 from real up close. This was in 2011. At that time, t28 was about 6 years old while 24 & 25 were 4 years old. So maybe that could be a reason.

T25 walked past by our jeep and my heart almost skipped a beat looking at his size. I saw 24 from some distance so cannot say for sure which one was bigger, since they are so closely matched. But he was a big tiger nonetheless. Both were far bigger than the captive bengals I had seen in Indian zoos.

Sorry, haven't seen t42.

I have only read this particular article regarding Jhumroo's weight. He stays mostly out of the tourism areas so remains out of spotlight.

Since this tiger has been tranquilized, the vets must have weighed him or at least have an accurate estimate because of calculating the tranquilizer dosage. Remember, it is not a generic estimate of 220 or 250 kg that is normally used for male tigers, but a more unusual one of 280, which points towards this being the actual weight.

However, the only people who can verify this are those who did the tranquilizing. May be you could ask the person who wrote the article.
