I just forgot to tell: during the eighties, a day, I was walking in a zoo in Paris. A young lion, proudly, was pacing up and down its bige cage. I started to sketch it, (going not to look at it without doing anything during all the afternoon).

And then...

And then ? I continued...

In the beginning, I sketched the nose, then an eye, after an ear and finished ! The animal moved its head... And I understood that instead of sketching detail after detail I had to learnt to "globally drawing". Thus I started to attend the drawing workshop. And in parrallel you studied this discipline story through the centuries.

And so... I have no merit, being only passionated by what I discovered. And of course you have to work, to practise yourself each day. Daily work only can lead to something, somewhere. But where ? I don't know now !

And seriously, I am not gifted ! Only hardworking may be. "When we like, we don't count"...;-)

Amazing work, you're extremely talented.
I used to draw comic book characters all day long when I was a kid, may be I will pick my passion up again and turn it towards wild life, like you.

I had this passion enough late after my university studies (Geologie). I was 27-28 years old. I don't know how old you are, but it is never too late to take up again it. I can guarantee you.

I'm slightly older than that, but not much. haha

But I know I would enjoy drawing, its just sitting down and doing it. I'll have to see if I still have the patience for it some time soon.

At least you started and thats the beginning of any passion. More than I have done, I need to get back to this. It is probably good for the soul to turn off your surroundings and just draw.

Wow, great topic. I am very glad to see that other posters share the same passion for the art.

You also know that I love to draw great cats and other animals, you already know my images so I would like to share other ones. I have a few old ones and other more new and accurate.

I was drawing this guy (orang utan) in Berlin zoo... 10 meters from me, we were in open air. Of course I was watching it attentively. After few minutes I stopped to watch it in order to finish the sketching. Suddendly I received an apple core on my head. All people around me were laughing. My neighbour, a japanese tourist, told me it was the ape which threw the apple core. Probably disappointed because I didn't watch it no longer...
And believe me: The apes aim very well !

Chimpanzees: they are, by far, the most aggressive among the big apes. Several times, because I watched them, they charged me even if their heads hit the glass wall of the cage when we were inside...
