GAVSKRR : I tried to look up Sabie males but nothing showing.

As for sweni , I was wondering why they called the others the same name , was getting confused with the others .
They shouldn't do that .

Fourways Blondie couple days ago at Phabeni gate

He has a smaller mane than his more impressive looking Gomondwane coalition partners however he is an extremely tough lion

! Here he is looking really intimidating, right after the battle with the Shishangeni coalition on the 7th July.

Really wish we had more of an update as it has been 2 and a half weeks since the fight between these 2 mighty coalitions.
For those following the story there have still been no confirmed sightings of either 2 Shishangeni males that we are aware of. During this time there have been a few sightings of the Hippo Pools pride without any dominant male present.
Their absence seems to suggest that at least 1 Shishangeni male was killed during the fight...it is strange though that if the other Shishangeni male is still around, he hasn't been seen anywhere near the roads in southern Kruger during this time??
As Safari Guides in the Kruger National Park, following the ever changing lion dynamics is one of our greatest interests and privileges. We aren't always able to know and share the full story, however judging from the behaviour that we have witnessed and recent sightings, it does seem that the legendary Shishangeni coalition legacy has come to an end!

Potato
Wow... no sighting at all .
So they presume 2 have died ,  maybe 1 has died and the other in hiding ? Don't know ....time will tell .
Hoping they will reappear .

So many puzzling occurrences in and around Kruger of late. Hard to fathom that both Shish males were killed in a single incident with three males, three males who previously appeared almost intimidated by the two Shish males. Not to mention I don't recall hearing of two males killed simultaneously in a fight with three males. Always possible that they may have killed one, and caught up with the other later on, perhaps he came back looking for his partner. So many possible scenarios. I assume that the area that this fight occurred is one of those where vehicles are not allowed to drive off the main roads?

RE: Coalitions of Kruger National Park - BigLion39 - 07-25-2022

Yes I've read that they can't go off the beaten path where it occured unfortunately.  Who knows, maybe they did catch one and he is healing up or in the process of dying. Hopefully time will be our friend and let us know something!

Most of Kruger is this way, except the private concessions in the Park and of course the private reserves such as Sabi Sands, Manyaleti, Timbavati etc. Lots of gravel roads in Southern Kruger around Crocodile Bridge but even with the main road they form only a fraction of area that can be viewed. There are fire breaks and no entry roads used by Park officials but they're not for use by tourists or guided vehicles (guided Sanparks drives do sometimes use them) so if anything happens off view of the main and gravel roads or if animals are there we will very likely never know. The beaten male(s) could have taken a retreat north of the S25 and be in the pretty big block between there and the S108/H5 and we would never how if he/they are living, dying or dead.

Thanks for that explanation. I thought that is how it is, which leads to how/why so many lions simply disappear in and around Kruger. In some cases the males in question are alive and well, just living in an area with little to no human traffic. Same type of thing happened when Mo's last brother was killed by the Mejane.

Just a tip, instagram stories disappear after some time, so better to take a screenshot of it and post a picture here.
