What a solid combination of genetics in one unique coalition. Lubyelubye, Hippo Pools (Shishangeni?), and s28 (H4/Vurhami: Old Gomondwane?).
I was hoping Lubyelubye son would show up somewhere by now. Lubyelubye Senior/Father is a very resilient male and i wish we got to see more of his history in detail. Definitely a Living Legend in my eyes. Very happy he gets to spend his final year/s as part of a coalition.

Su Lubylelubyes are now without pride males? Mazitis are no longer with them?

RE: Coalitions of Kruger National Park - Brahim - 04-04-2022

Mazithi males haven't been seen with them in ages, they were focused on S82 pride who welcomed new cubs recently. Seems Lubyelubye pride maybe split, there's this part down here without males and another part near Lower sabie, with the 3 lower sabie males

The lone lioness greeted the 2 Mjejane's and this gave the 2 Vurhami's a chance to get away. The Mjejane's started chasing the Vurhami's and got hold of Mbilu at a later stage.
We're unsure if Mbilu is alive, we could only hear them attacking him in the bush and one Mjejane male came out with a bloody face. Mo is still on the run.

Farewell Mbilu. Life was against you from the start.

Sooner or later the brutal attitude of the Mjejane will be their end.

Its not brutal attitude, its normal behavior of male lions defending their teritory and ultimatley lifes, if they didnt eliminate threat of 6 young Vurhamis at time, in short future those young males would attack them and either oust them or kill them.

Males competition for teritory works on principle "if i dont kill you, you will kill me" there is no in between, they cant share territories or prides.

In this Mbilu example, he and Mo messed with females who where still under Mjejanes, and they paid the price..

RE: Coalitions of Kruger National Park - Duco Ndona - 04-05-2022

Its how it is. For a male lion, having a pride is not not some privilege, but rather something they have to work tooth and nail for.
Those that are weak and make crucial mistakes aren't going to make it long. Regardless of how big their numbers or who their parents are.

The Vurhami aren't some innocent cubs either. Had they been given the chance, they would just as easily killed cubs and rival males. They would be called the Brutal ones while the Mjejane would be remembered as brave protectors that gave their lives to protect their lionesses and cubs.

I just want some clarification, their names are Blondie, Mohawk, and Dominant Renosterkoppies, right?

RE: Coalitions of Kruger National Park - Brahim - 04-05-2022

Yeah they aren't official just because obviously one is blonde, one has a mohawk and other is darkmaned, but he's more called Oldest rather than dominant, Blondie is the one seen mating all the time.

He is the son of Xihamham and brothers. ( old shishangaan males)
That means he is the younger brother of Casper and brothers.
Not sure if he alone or having any brother.

2/7 Satara Males at the same sighting. Five were present in total and all managed to disappear in plain sight not 5 meters from the road.
