@Sideliner This lion was from Karongwe, a private reserve out of the Kruger NP. It's not a local lion, but was introduced from Kalahari.

Sticking with lions...yesterday we came across this old warrior in the Krugernationalpark. It looks very much like the old Hippo Pools male who was ousted from his territory earlier this year.
He was more than 25km from the territory he used to reign, much of his mane has fallen out and he has lost a lot of weight! He struggles on though, living as a nomad, determined to survive just a little longer on his own!

Biyamiti, Kruger National Park, South Africa

When the king is on the move, the world cannot stop itself from watching where he goes. What a beaut of a male lion. The predators have certainly benefited from the ample food that has been available after the tough drought that has gripped Kruger for the past several months.

The 5 Jock male lions The Jock males are a coalition of 5 males, they were born in 2009 and they are all the offspring's of the Jock pride lioness.
These 5 males were kicked out of their natal pride by the "Mlambane Males" 5 years ago.

On the 29th of February 2012 a sad moment took place when an old, injured lion was separated from his sons and laid weak under a tree with a herd of buffalo surrounding him . In a brutal attack from the buffalo ( which the King fought off bravely ) he was finally dethroned. Watch the video below

Mlambane males
2013: Update & photo from the General Manager, Louis Strauss. Two years ago 4 huge male lions from an area we call Mlambane River moved onto the Jock concession area and ousted the old pride male that has been ruling this area for several years. He and his 5 sons were no match for the battle scared Mlambane males.
